PFC John J. Dibean joined the 702nd Tank Battalion on January 10, 1945 as a replacement Tank Driver in Headquarters Company, Assault Gun Platoon. On March 6, 1945, near Priest, Germany, artillery shrapnel wounded him through the lungs, and while he survived, he never fully recovered. He received his Honorable Discharge on October 31, 1945.
