le Pont de Mons Bridge

Moselle River, France

October 1944

The Moselle River Bridge at le Pont de Mons near Dieulouard, October 1944.  Diagonally across the center are the concrete supports for the original bridge.  Just above and behind that, you can see the replacement bridge put in by the 305th Engineer Battalion.  This photo was purchased at auction and came from the estate of Major Bob Rawls, 305th Engineer Battalion, 80th Infantry Division.

A G.I. standing on the replacement bridge.

The abutment for the original bridge, which was destroyed by bombing.
