Thor's Valkyrja De Le Rose

 

Thor's Valkyrja De Le Rose, or Kyrja (pronounced Keara) as we call her is our newest family member.  Kyrja came to us from another breeder, and her name fits her well!  Valkyrja, or Valkyries were the Norse-Viking Angels that searched the battle-fields for those who were the bravest, and then would take them to heaven, or Valhalla.  The prefix "Val" means brave, and the root "Kyrja" means "The Chooser".  Our Kyrja was meant to become the mate of our Thor.  Kyrja was seven weeks old when we got her, and as of this writing, July 4, 2008 she turns eight weeks old!  Kyrja is a real sweetheart, yet also brave and highly intelligent.  In one short week, she has come a long way in her house-training, and has won the heart of her mate, Thor.  Thor is 2 1/2 years old now, and an Alpha male who doesn't tolerate other males well.  However, with Kyrja, he is very sweet, and has been very careful not to hurt her, even when she gets too frisky and bites down on sensitive parts of his body.  Thor seems to understand that Kyrja is his mate, and is unusually kind to her.  Kyrja seems to adore Thor as well.  One night, Thor had a bad nightmare, and began howling.  Kyrja woke up from sleeping, and crawled towards Thor, and began licking his face to try to comfort him.  Kyrja tries to get along with our other dogs, Odin, Freyr and Leysa, but they are very leery of her and her sharp little teeth.  All in all, we have one great little girl here, and I expect that she will grow to be a fabulous adult!

 

Kyrja loves to play outdoors!
