This is the home to the 808th Tank Destroyer Battalion, which was attached to the 80th Infantry Division from September 25th to December 21, 1944.  The battalion had a long battle history attached to the 76th Infantry, the 4th Infantry and 65th Infantry Divisions as well.  It also operated on special missions directed at corps level.
