Built by the Diamond T Motor Car Company, Chicago Illinois, with a Hercules engine, Timken transfer case and axles, Garwood front winch (15,000 pound capacity), Bendix Westinghouse air brakes and Holmes wrecking gear (5 ton capacity, or 10 ton with snatch blocks). Was bought by the previous owner in pieces and a 7 year restoration followed. Previous owners were east coast based crane hire and vehicle recovery businesses. Delivered in September 1941, this is one of an early batch with a enclosed cab, later models had a canvas cab. This vehicle is presented as a vehicle belonging to the 305th Combat Engineers, 80th Division. |
